President Trump implied on that China was not holding on its part of the bargain by not buying additional goods from the US it had promised in the earlier Phase 1 trade deal. The reduced demand from the pandemic might very well have been the reason but the U.S is looking at getting back at China so who knows.

I was not implying that globalization is dangerous — just that its shortcoming became apparent in a crisis situation like this one. Being better prepared for a pandemic is absolutely of prime importance but how effective would such a plan be which depends on other countries to provide them with the critically needed goods like the PPE. More so when they are suffering from the same problem. Do you think they would give preference to other countries over the needs of their own? Globalization could still be useful but not in its current shape.
