Tech Crunch has dropped another bombshell with the revelation that Since 2016, Facebook has been paying users ages 13 to 35 up to $20 per month plus referral fees to sell their privacy by installing the iOS or Android “Facebook Research” app. All of this has been done under the auspices of so-called Project Atlas. The app collects all of the users’ phone & web activity via the research VPN giving the social media giant an unlimited leverage. A few hours after the report was published Facebook pulled the app from the iOS store. Wonder what is it going to take for these tech giants to act responsibly. Apparently a turbulent 2018 did not teach FB anything!
