True Rik… most of the central banks are still not comfortable issuing a digital alternative to their fiat currencies for everyday transactions. But it is only a matter of time before they see the digital transformation catching up to them. The current DLT prototypes for interbank & cross-border settlements are the first step in that direction. These DLT systems all have digital equivalents of fiat currencies being used for settlement purposes. All you need sometimes is a leader to follow & e-krona might just provide them with that. With IMF weighing in favor of CBDC’s, I believe 2019–2020 would see the paradigm shift accelerating towards the digital model.
